When a big oak hides half the house, the wreath still shows. It hangs on a flat piece of wall, it carries its own lights, and from the street it shows up as one bright circle. Carmichael Christmas wreath hanging is a short job for us, and it’s often the piece that makes a plain ranch front look finished.
Pick the size by how far away the street is
We supply pre-lit wreaths in several sizes and hang them for you. Size matters more than most people expect. A wreath that feels huge in your arms can vanish on a garage gable seen from the road, so we choose by the spot and the viewing distance.
Around Carmichael Creek the homes sit far back from the road, and a door wreath can’t be seen from the street. Go large there, and go up on a gable or the chimney. Barrett Hills is the other extreme. It’s a neighborhood of dog walkers, with Jan Park in the middle, so a wreath at the door gets seen from the sidewalk and a modest one is plenty. If you can’t tell which kind of house yours is, call (916) 999-5158 and say what you see from the curb.
Where a lit wreath goes on a one-story house
The chimney
If your ranch has a wide brick chimney on the street side, that is often the best spot on the house. We never drill masonry. A strap goes around the chimney, padded where it bears on the brick corners, and the wreath hangs from that. It stays well below the cap, and we only take the job if the chimney can be reached safely.
A gable or the garage peak
On a single-story house, the gable over the garage or the entry is the biggest blank wall there is. We hang from what’s already up there, usually the gable vent or the trim, with coated wire tied back to a clip. Nothing new goes into the siding. Over a garage we center the wreath on the peak and not on the door, because on plenty of older homes those two don’t line up. A wreath up there wants roofline lights along the eave running up to it.
Windows
One wreath per front window, all at the same height. We hang from the top of the frame so nothing presses on the glass, which matters on older panes.
The front door
A padded hanger hooks over the door and the wreath rides on that. No nail goes in. The cord runs down the hinge side, clear of the latch. Lit garland framing the doorway is the usual partner, and wrapped porch posts finish the entry.
Under the oaks
A wreath high on a wall behaves like a small sail. We tie it at the top and again at the bottom so it can’t swing and scuff the paint, and we put a soft pad behind the frame wherever it touches the house. Under heavy canopy, twigs and leaves drop into a wreath over a month. That’s normal, and it brushes out when we take it down.
Phone and photo quotes for Carmichael Christmas wreath hanging
Text or email a clear picture taken from the street and tell us which spots you have in mind. We’ll suggest sizes and price it on the call, (916) 999-5158, or you can write through the contact page. No visit needed.
In January we come back, lift each wreath down, remove the hangers, straps and ties, and take everything with us. You store nothing. If a storm shifts a wreath or one goes dark before then, call (916) 999-5158 and we’ll set it right.
Wreaths in Riverwood and near Village Park
In gated Riverwood the association hangs its own wreaths at the entry each season, and a wreath of your own fits right in. Its rules put decorations the community can see under architectural review, so read the current copy first.
Fair Oaks Village is the other place a door wreath earns its spot. The community tree lighting is held at Village Park in Fair Oaks each December, and a house on the way there gets looked at up close that evening. See our page on lights in Fair Oaks Village.
Asked often in Lit Wreath Hanging
Will you put a nail or screw in my front door?
No. Door wreaths hang from a padded over-the-door hanger, and the cord runs down the hinge side so the latch stays clear.
How do you hang a wreath on a brick chimney without drilling it?
Yes. We run a padded strap around the chimney and hang the wreath from the strap. Nothing is drilled or anchored into the brick or mortar.
How big a wreath does a house set far back from the road need?
Bigger than feels right in your hands. We size by the wall and the distance to the street. On a deep lot that usually means our largest wreath, hung high on a gable or the chimney, and we bring it with us.
How does a lit wreath up on a gable get power?
A cord runs along the trim to the nearest outlet, or the wreath ties into the roofline lights if you have them. It runs off the same timer as everything else.
